Psychoanalysts Working With Patients Who Have Been Subjected to Torture Due to Socio-Political Circumstances: Possible or Impossible Challenge?

Silvia Flechner, M.D., is President of the Uruguayan Psychoanalytical Association, full member in didactic functions, Member of FEPAL and IPA. Medical Doctor at Haifa Rambam University (Technion), Psychologist, Master in Psychoanalysis. She specializes in adolescent patients. She is Past Director of the Adolescence Laboratory in the Uruguayan Society, Member of the ITC Committee (Integrated Training Committee) at the IPA, and Past Scientific Director of the Association for Psychiatry and Psychological Adolesence at Pereira Rosell Hospital in Motevideo, Uruguay, as a teacher in this Institution. She has published in the IJPA and many other Latin America magazines. She was editor of the book Psychoanalysis and Adolescence: Uruguayan Psychoanalysts Thinking About Adolescence. She received the Prize FEPAL 2008 in child and adolescent at FEPAL Congress in Chile. She shared publication with Dr. Sergio Lewcovicz of the book Truth, Reality and the Psychoanalyst: Latin American contributions to Psychoanalysis (2002) in English and Spanish.
