Psychoanalysis as I Have Known It: 1949–2013

Robert S.Wallerstein died on December 19, 2014, shortly before his 94th birthday, after a psychoanalytic career that spanned eight decades. He wrote 20 books and more than 400 articles. In the course of his career, he held most every prominent position in the “mainstream” psychoanalytic world: President of both the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytical Association; North American Editor of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis; Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco; Director of Research at the Menninger School for Psychiatry and more. Professor Wallerstein was a member of the Editorial Board of Psychoanalytic Dialogues since its founding.
