The election for the 46th president of the USA is finally over.
The delivery was long but the results were decisive.
At 5:24 pm European time, the number 243, emblazoned for too long in peoples’ minds, finally shifted to 279, proof that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had finally won the state of Pennsylvania and with it, the US election.
The nightmare is over.
The constant display of insults and lies, of offensive, destructive, vindictive as well as utterly shameless behavior can finally be envisioned to come to an end again.
Trump and his Republican entourage appeared to be untouchable for 4 long years. Not one of his 22,247 false and misleading statements stuck to him. Neither did his yearly tax
payment of $750.00, nor his insults of war veterans, nor his venerated relationship to rightwing or fascist dictators, nor his denial of the climate change, nor the complete mishandling and disparagement of the Corona pandemic, endanger his downfall. And yet within one day, after his defeat to Joe Biden, Trump’s façade suddenly appeared to crumble.
How did this protective glow, this Teflon armor or fetishistic cover slowly and with great disbelief lose its luster?
How was it possible that this perverse political structure in which we the disbelievers, not “the deplorables” were held captive for four gut-wrenching years? How could we remain helpless witnesses to an increasingly demonic presidential universe?
Was Trump the emperor without clothes?
Not really, since millions of people screamed over the years that King Trump wore no clothes.
