The responses to Romy Reading and Deborah Liner address the differences between intromission and implantation in Laplanche, and whether trauma and intromission are necessarily similar psychic processes, or describe different responses to unique experiences of parent-infant seduction. The paper also addresses Liner’s comments about the difference between a “one person” versus “two person” application of Laplanche’s ideas. The response to both comments draws on Winnicott and Ferenczi to amplify certain aspects of Laplanche’s ideas.
