In my response to Goldner’s 2014 paper, I link her work with couples on the brink to the current socio-enviro-political scene. With the climate catastrophe unfolding at a rapid pace, the political divisions are becoming ever more entrenched and dangerous. Is this a defense against the unimaginable? In this prose poem, I hope to draw the reader into a state in which they can tune into their own experience of living in a world on the brink.
