In examining both Levy-Warren and Suslovic’s commentaries, I explore the different ways they engage in adultification bias and White infantilization, and how each brought out important considerations about these ideas. In particular, I examine the potential meaning of the common belief that centering race and Whiteness can be unnuanced, how the legacy of racism and colonialism has been present in psychoanalysis since its founding, and how state violence and genocide limit any possibility of childhood. Finally, I take up Levy-Warren and Suslovic’s wonderful clinical vignette and explore their richness and complexities.
