The transference onto the body is of essence with our current patients and particularly, when the analysand suffers from a body-mind dissociation. By this I mean she has an absence of emotional resonance, together with clear manifestations of estrangement from, or indifference toward himself and his own physicality. If it’s true that psychoanalysis is a relational process, it’s equally true that the focus of working through should be oriented toward the analysand herself – her way of relating to the concreteness of her own body, learning to understand her place and boundaries in space and time.
