This paper is a discussion of Riccardo Lombardi’s paper, Transference onto the body: Beyond the relational, the symbolic and hystorical. Leaning on previous psychoanalytic writers who focused on the body as a cultural reproduction, as well as critical theory expanding the reaches of race, class, gender, and sexuality, this discussion aims to problematize reductive ideas of temporality that linearize time and space, reproducing the violent Enlightenment binaries of body/mind undergirding colonial violence. Focusing on the clinical and theoretical ideas presented by Lombardi, this discussion applies a theory of dense temporality emergent through tensegrity, within which sensation and the body are not opportunities for a minded containment but the expanse of an environmentally co-emergent being.
