In responding to the essays written by Annie Lee Jones, Adam Rodriguez, and Lynne Layton, I continue to explore the impact of identifications and disidentifications with Whiteness/anti-Blackness and begin to examine forms of resistance. I propose that the Black-White binary, as a structural and psychic in-between space, which contains racialized multiplicities, be conceptualized as a spectrum. Given the fixedness of the racialized structures of the Black-White binary, I question whether there is a “beyond.” I close with a brief clinical vignette illustrating the poignancy of existing within the paradigm of Whiteness/anti-Blackness.
