I read with interest Dr. Ahron L. Friedberg's article, “Termination: A Case Study” (Psychodynamic Psychiatry, Vol. 43, No. 4, pp. 623-650). I noted that he didn't mention a number of papers we have written on the subject of termination, and have listed them below so that readers interested in termination may have the opportunity to read them.
(1990). Post-termination patient-analyst contact: I. Analysts’ attitudes and experience; II. Impact on patients. International Journal of Psychoanalysis, 71, 475-486.
(1992). Concepts of termination and post-termination patient-analyst contact. International Journal of Psychoanalysis, 73, 137-154.
, & (2001). The effect of the analyst's gender and other factors on post-termination patient-analyst contact: Confirmation by a questionnaire study. International Journal of Psychoanalysis, 82, 1123-1132.
, & (2013). An alternative concept of termination and follow-up. The Psychoanalytic Review, 100, 423-452.
, , , & (1997). Clinical experience with psychoanalytic post-termination meetings. International Journal of Psychoanalysis, 78, 1193-1198.
Thank you for listing these.
