My editorship of this issue of Psychoanalytic Inquiry was the result of Frank Lachmann's recommendation to Joseph D. Lichtenberg, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. I am very grateful to Doctors Lachmann and Lichtenberg for the opportunity to acquaint the mental health profession with Ferenczi's life and work, to join the Ferenczi Renaissance by reestablishing Ferenczi as a seminal and significant figure in psychoanalysis, and to acknowledge Ferenczi's contributions to the self psychology orientation. Joseph Lichtenberg has also been a tenderhearted analyst mentoring this issue through some difficult moments.
I am grateful for the editorial assistance of Sharon Kahn, Ph.D. and Robert Prince, Ph.D.
The typing of the manuscript was in the capable and expert hands of my sister, Elaine Frieda Lasky.
