In this issue, “Psychoanalytic Psychosomatics: A View from Germany,” Psychoanalytic Inquiry continues a policy of offering our readers knowledge of the productive, innovative explorations taking place outside North America. We began this practice in 1984 with “French Psychoanalytic Voices.” In 1992 we presented “The Ethical Texture of Psychoanalysis,” a volume that explored the extremely difficult problems of living and practicing psychoanalysis in South America under oppressive totalitarian regimes. “Contemporary Kleinian Psychoanalysis” (1994) delineated the progress that has been made in the work of a widespread influential group of analysts. We will soon be presenting “Child Psychotherapy: A Report from the Tavistock Clinic.” While our readership is worldwide, the majority are from the United States. We believe we are fulfilling a need to provide information on the concerns and productivity of psychoanalysts in different cultures and regions. We invite you to react with suggestions and critiques.
