Carl Rotenberg, My Friend and Colleague, Died on July 22, 2005. Carl was a practicing psychoanalyst with a special gift for appreciating artistic and creative endeavors across many fields. I knew him best as a member—contributor, along with his wife Francene to a study group—workshop on creativity that I have chaired for many years. Carl was also a valued member of the editorial board of Psychoanalytic Inquiry. The clarity of his mind and his openness to exploring is revealed in his publications but more so in spontaneous discussions with him. Our seminar group, our editorial group, and I will miss him.
I must add with regret and embarrassment that Carl's name was left off the cover of the wonderful issue he and George Hagman edited on Creativity, Art, and Psychoanalysis (Vol. 26 No. 3 June—July 2006). The omission is particularly painful in that we at Psychoanalytic Inquiry would especially want to honor Carl's last contribution to us and the analytic field.
