The interventions poignantly described in this issue of Psychoanalytic Inquiry may inspire others to initiate projects in disturbed communities, and that the psychoanalytic establishment will come to recognize that community psychoanalysis is now a viable career track to be placed alongside those of psychoanalytic scholars and/or training analysts. Outside the domain of psychoanalytic training, it is hoped that the programs and initiatives described herein, along with those presented in Analysts in the Trenches (Sklarew, Twemlow, and Wilkinson, 2004), will receive governmental and foundation recognition that, in turn, leads to new sources of financial support. Such support is certainly justified, as the contributions leave no doubt of the applicability of psychoanalytic concepts and strategies to a broad range of community interventions.
