Reflecting on a lifetime of involvement with psychoanalytic education, the prompts for attending to four particular aspects are discussed: (1) helping candidates develop cases; (2) enhancing candidates’ writing; (3) reviewing and revising the curriculum with a small group of respected colleagues to make it more comprehensive and integrated; and (4) ensuring that candidates receive educationally optimal feedback that is robust, transparent and reflective of a collaborative developmental spirit. Relationships between the motivation to address some features of psychoanalytic education and limitations of my own candidacy are considered, as is the experience of envisioning, introducing and rolling out these initiatives. Publications that directly grew out of these educational programs are described, as are the stimuli for additional contributions.
