The author tells the clinical story of a longtime trauma patient’s gradual exploration of changes in gender identity later in life. The author describes her own growing understanding of this patient’s transformation and of gender fluidity in general. A final draft of the article was shared with the patient, who made editorial suggestions and raised some important questions, which were then incorporated into the final article. The author also shared her personal learning process, including a new awareness and questioning of herself, emerging from this work.
