The China American Psychoanalytic Alliance: History; What We Do; Goals

Born 1934 in New York City, graduated (1954) Queens College, graduated (1958) Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, one of ten women in a class of 120. Internship and psychiatric residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (Albert Einstein College of Medicine). Taught in several departments of psychiatry. At present she is Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University College of Medicine and Visiting Professor at Sichuan University, Chengdu, China. Elise is the longest member of the APsaA Board of Directors (thirty-one years), chaired many APsaA committees, past President of the American College of Psychoanalysis, Founder and President of the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance. Awards include Sigmund Freud Award (American Association of Psychoanalytic Psychiatrists), and Presidential Award (American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry).
