Dear Editors,
I read the first issue of Psychoanalytic Perspectives and I found it compelling and highly readable. I enjoyed the high quality of writing and obviously excellent editing that went into the production of this issue. I hope you have ongoing success in this venture. This publication can make a significant contribution to the literature of psychotherapy. I particularly found the article by James L. Fosshage, “Some Reflections on ‘What Is a Psychoanalytic Relationship?’ and ‘How Does It Effectuate Change?’” engrossing and enlightening. Dr. Fosshage underlines the emergence of the analyst as a responsive, emotionally communicating agent of healing. The author traces the journey from the intrapsychic to the interpersonal emphasis in treatment. It is the nature of the relationship that matters.
