Dear Editors,
I want to congratulate Psychoanalytic Perspectives for offering a space for creative expression. I think that Bonnie Zindel's story “The Day of Michelangelo,” which appeared in your last issue [Vol. 2, No. 2], is a remarkable piece of writing. The description of walking around Florence is beautifully rendered, as is the exchange between patient and analyst. In that exchange she includes the unspoken conversations, which give it “all the feel of real” (Winnicott). My favorite part was Laurel's response to Michelangelo's tomb: wordless tears. She manages to convey a feeling state of love and awe and enormous admiration and ordinary sadness.
