If I'm my own protagonist then most of my good-byes
have been disappearances. The father character
drowned; ex-girlfriends skipped town
sent postcards. The problem now is I need
a real ending. I'm supposed to terminate
two years worth of work, to write myself
out of this chapter. I flip back a thousand pages
to when I was afraid of the phone.
