The idea of a “group turn,” advocated by Stavros Charalambides, is an important contribution to the development of training in psychoanalytic institutes, as a means of addressing conflictual institutional dynamics. Similar developments occurred in Belgrade, Serbia: as a result of a long-lasting process of building on old roots, the School for Integrative Group Analysis “Koinonia-Art” emerged. Recently, the Institutional Matters Forum of the European Psychoanalytic Federation presented the book project Psychodynamics of Psychoanalytic Institutions: Legacy, Transformation and Becoming to the Psychotherapy Section of the Serbian Medical Society. The Section, founded by the early practitioners of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Serbia, is a reminder of their open-mindedness and support for a “group turn,” both personal and institutional, and demonstrates that there is fertile ground for continuing to build and invigorate bridges among various psychodynamic disciplines.
