The author holds that psychoanalytic conceptions of prereflective organizing principles and the systematicity of experience have deeply Kantian roots. In support of this claim, he explores these 2 themes as they appear in a small segment of Kant's critical philosophy known as the transcendental aesthetic. These Kantian themes, in turn, are seen to coincide with the epistemological attitude of perspectival realism, which the author and his collaborators have recommended for psychoanalytic practice.
