The book is a Festschrift for Allan Frosch, who died in 2016 at the age of 78. It is edited and contributed to by colleagues who, as Jane Tucker tells us in her commemoration, clearly esteemed Frosch “as a psychoanalyst, teacher, mentor and writer; he also was treasured as a friend and colleague” (p. xvii). Goodman, Joan D. Hoffenberg, Phyllis F. Hopkins, Richard Lasky, Anthony Mazzella, Michael Moskowitz, Ruth Oscharoff, Arnold Rothstein, Jane Tucker, and Neal Vorus. Undoubtedly the reader will recognize that this an accomplished list of psychoanalytic colleagues, many of whom are themselves distinguished authors.

These are followed by a postscript by Ruth Oscharoff. Although the essays range over a number of disparate topics, one easily finds a twofold theme co
