The background context to a particular experience of brief psychotherapy in depth with students is described. Particular stress is given to work and examinations problems in terms of sex and gender difficulties and inhibitions. Issues of envy, enviability and problems of jealousy are found to be a frequent focus for work, not only on study difficulties but relationship problems arising in this student group. The advantages of psychotherapy consultancy to a particular university student health general practice are then described.
