Dr George Moran, Director of the Anna Freud Centre, died early this year from motor neurone disease. Over the years he contributed remarkably to the relevance of observations of early childhood development to psychoanalytic formulations and practice. There has been enormous progress in both fields, yet workers from these two disciplines have rarely had an opportunity to meet to discuss the implications of each field for the other.
This meeting, in honour of George Moran, will offer the rare opportunity to examine the common ground between recent progress in the study of human development and psychoanalytic theories. Leaders from both fields have agreed to participate to discuss their findings and ideas. They are Prof. Daniel Stern (Geneva), Prof. John Morton (London), Prof. Serge Lebovici (Paris), Mrs. Anne-Marie Sandler (London), Dr. Elizabeth Spillius (London), Prof. Donald Cohen (Yale), Dr. Peter Neubauer (New York), Prof. Al Solnit (Yale) and Dr. Peter Fonagy (London). The Chair will be taken by Prof. Joseph Sandler (London).
