This interesting book explores our reaction to one of the major challenges of our age: HIV/AIDS. In particular, Dr Molnos has set out to study the unconscious feelings stirred up by this internal destroyer and the psychological defences which are marshalled against such threatening anxiety. There is the minimum of discussion of medical and epidemiological data — just enough to remind us of the all-too-ignorable facts. The primary focus is on how the anxiety caused by this deadly virus can distort these facts and impact on our thinking and communications in prejudiced and confused ways.
