This work consists of a cbllection of papers written by Dr. Ferenczi, and which have appeared from time to time in various European periodicals. In its present form, collected and translated by Dr. Jones, it is one of the most brilliant contributions to psychoanalysis available in English. Dr. Ferenczi is one of the best known of Professor Freud's pupils, and one of the most brilliant writers. The English-speaking psychoanalysts owe Dr. Jones sincere thanks for having made so many of his essays available in English. Almost each one of the essays contains original suggestions. Those which are of special merit are the chapters on “Introjection and Transference,” “On Obscene Words,” on “Stages in the Development of the Sense of Reality,” and on “The Ontogenesis of the Interest in Money,” although all of the chapters are very well worth reading and full of valuable suggestions for the analyst.
