The reviewer received with great interest this little book from faraway Calcutta and notes with interest and some degree of envy that in the medical school of the University the writer is lecturer on psychoanalysis and abnormal psychology. It is a source of satisfaction to note the spread of the psychoanalytic concepts about the world, and to realize that they are attracting the attention of thoughtful medical men everywhere.
This little book is a clear and concise statement of the author's views on the subject of repression. It is replete with diagrams illustrating how he thinks of the forces involved and their relations to one another. There are some interesting references to practices which are found in India and the final chapter on the psychology of smell is full of interesting suggestions.
