This index to the first ten volumes of the International Journal of Psycho-Analysis is a very welcome addition, particularly as the usefulness of these volumes has been distinctly impaired by not having indexes as they were published. An examination of this index indicates that it has been very carefully prepared precisely along lines that will render it useful in gaining access to the matter dealt with by the several contributions through the preceding ten years. Under symbolism, for example, an effort has apparently been made to indicate in each instance where the symbolism of a particular thing has been observed and explained, such, for example, as death, fire, letters, smoking, pearl, shoe, wine, etc. A similar complete list of references is found under such other titles as superego, tics, phantasy, narcissism, sense of guilt, ego, dreams, delusions, etc., etc.
