A good little book, written for those who have had already some initiation to psychoanalytic thought, with an excellent and graceful introduction by Dr. A. A. Brill. It sets forth certain principles of psychoanalysis, particularly those applied to character formation, and having briefly but clearly elucidated these, he cites with equal brevity and equal clarity certain illustrative cases that he has analyzed. The concept and the execution are both excellent, except for their brevity. The book suffers in this respect, but of all the faults this is one of the least. It surely appears so from the reviewer's standpoint. The book ought to be very useful in disseminating an added understanding of some of the psychoanalytic principles.
