“The Meaning of Psychoanalysis” is a very well conceived and well presented little book which sets out briefly the history of the movement, its principles, and the method of its application, and winds up by quoting two illustrative cases. It is written very clearly, in fact, unusually so, so that it presents a rather complex subject in an exceedingly readable and simple fashion. Of course, to some extent, it might be criticized for being oversimplified, but the errors of oversimplification are few. The particular aspect of the book, which is unusual, is a description of the treatment in such a way that one gets a very fair idea of what occurs during the psychoanalytic hour. The book ought to be very favorably received.
