A most excellent, sane, measured, considered approach to the problem of the adolescent girl, based upon actual experience in the clinic, in attempting with her to solve the problems which the present day have saddled upon her shoulders. The book is filled with worth while material, sound judgments, and illustrative cases. Perhaps the outstanding feeling that one gets from reading it is that despite the fact that the times have become so unjointed that the modern girl has been suddenly thrown upon her own without adequate preparation, and has as a result taken the liberty that was at hand in large doses, expecting to find happiness in so doing, that as a matter of fact happiness has not resulted, and that for the old standards that have been thrown by and discarded, sneered at by the young intelligentsia, considered passé and outgrown, new ones are taking their place. It seems without question that the old morality has gone. It seems also without question that a new one is arising, and it seems, too, that the new will be better than the old and that if the reviewer may hazard a guess that at the end of a generation or two there will not be such an awful lot of difference between the two, but such differences as exist at that time will constitute a distinct advance. Civilization seems to operate in this way. It takes time and effort without stint to produce results which are seemingly small.
The book can be recommended to all those interested in the adolescent girl.
