This little book is an attempt to set forth in a short space characteristics of the different methods of psychotherapeutic treatment. It might well have been called a primer of psychotherapy. Like all brief statements, it has the faults of brevity and of course its virtues. The book is well worth reading, especially for the beginner in this field, as a reliable guide for his orientation. The final chapter on psychotherapy in organic disease is a particularly well expressed statement of present tendencies in thinking about the nature of disease and the alleged distinctions between functional and organic.
