Anything Oliver writes is interesting. This book is no exception. Pastoral psychiatry is a subject that might well appeal to him, as he is both priest and psychiatrist, and has for many years given himself in this dual rôle to his patients. Not only is the book interesting from this point of view, but he presents in tabloid form an account of the various psychoses, and then, more interesting than all, he gives a number of actual cases and personal experiences in dealing with individual problems. It would be well if all the gentlemen of the cloth who undertake to deal with the various maladies of the spirit were as well grounded scientifically as is Dr. Oliver.
