This author has long been at work on the problems of the adult psychoneurotic, his first publication on this subject being “The Common Neuroses.” As one reads the present book, however, he gets the impression that Dr. Ross has traveled a considerable distance in the understanding of his patients since that was written and that in so traveling he has become more and more dependent upon the tenets of the psychoanalytic
school. In fact he goes so far as to say “without Freud it could not have been written.”
The book is a very simple presentation of a number of psychotherapeutic problems and can be read with advantage by those who are looking for an introduction to this field of medicine.
