This special number of the “Archivos De Neurobiologia” is issued in honor of Professor G. Lafora, the eminent Spanish neurologist. It con
sists of forty-one contributions, some of which are excellently illustrated, and covers more than six hundred and fifty pages. A biographical sketch of Lafora and his scientific work is given by Professor Maranon, and appended to this account is a bibliographic list of his enormous number of contributions to the neuropsychiatric literature arranged according to the years from 1910 to the present. The first scientific paper in the book is the second part of a neurohistological research by the great and venerable investigator, Prof. S. Ramon y Cajal. The work is thoroughly and beautifully illustrated, characteristics which have always been evident in Cajal's productions.

The number of papers on neuropathology, clinical neurology and chemistry greatly exceeds that on psychiatry as such, the last being represented by twelve expositions a few of which are of psychoanalytic importance. Psychopathology of the mystics (Goyanes), schizophrenic psychoses in infants (Sanz), psychoses in chronic encephalitis (Sacristan), character and body form in essential epilepsy (Sempan), paranoid reactions (Lloret), pathogenesis of climacteric (Maranon), and a test for general intelligence (Germain and Rodrigo) are some of the psychiatric topics discussed.
Cerebral neuroepithelioma (with fine photomicrographs) (Tello and Herrera), Rathke's disease (Gomez), atypical paresis with miliary gummas (Borregnero), extrapyramidal-pyramidal syndromes (Aydillo), Sydenham's chorea (Gonzalo), Friedreich's disease (Canizo et al.), Thomsen's dise
