A most excellent book. The best presentation of scientific work for the informed reader that the reviewer has seen. It can hardly be said to be a work for popular consumption in the general sense, but for those who are interested in the province of science and make some effort to keep track of what is going on it is a splendid setting forth of the work now taking place both in the field of the biological and the physical sciences.
The chapter headings will indicate the ground covered. They are as follows: Genetics; Anthropology; Physical Disease; Cancer; Glands; Mental Diseases; Vitamins; Insects; Matter; Radiation; Astrophysics; Weather; Galaxies. Each chapter is admirably done and very interestingly the subject with which it deals is presented, woven about, as it were, the outstanding personalities in these various fields, so that along with the setting forth of scientific advances there go interesting biographical correlations.
