Dr. Reich has been carrying on a series of studies on the dynamic-economic situation within the personality of which the present is number five. It deals with two series of considerations—those of the title mentioned—one on dialectic materialism in life research, an address given at the opening of his “Bion” laboratory.
The chief trends of the present brochure is to follow down into the vegetative nervous system the effects of the dynamic-economic situation as organized by Freud and for Reich, added in his character analysis studies.
Such character analysis studies are, as is known, as yet but vaguely coördinated and Reich would lay special emphasis upon the orgasmic function in this medley of organ energy activities. Orgastic potency for him is an ultimate which not thoroughly analyzed, from the character-ological viewpoint, leaves the psychotherapeutic work unfinished.
He draws close analogies between orgasm activity and psychomotor activities in general and through measurements of the latter would generalize concerning the energy situation of the former.
Here are some unique conceptions which seem to be well worth while looking into.
