The author, formerly principal of the Priory Gate School, now abandoned, who has published previously on related topics, here collects in a small volume of 79 unindexed pages some lecture essays given in Manchester in 1935 and previously.
They are subsumed under the general title, The Dual Personality, with Stages of Development, Analysis and Synthesis, Adjustment of Maleness and Femaleness in Children, and The Reeducation of the Invert.
Under these captions we find a rather loose discussion of psychoanalytic conceptions relative to maleness and femaleness stemming in part from Platonic Preambles. Freud, Jung, Groddeck, and especially Silberers’ too much overlooked work are among the authors cited, with illustrative material of the author's own observations. These are extended, in places, by the discussion of dream material explanatory of Id urges.
On the whole an informing and useful brochure notwithstanding its rather loose and nonsystematic construction.
