This is a 50 page brochure, reprinted from L'Hygiène Mentale and made one of a new series of neuropsychiatric monographs to be issued by Prof. Claude and his associates of L'Encéphale.

It deals only with the more modern conceptions, nosologically dating chiefly from the excellent work of Serieux and Capgras, [See White, W. A., Outlines of Psychiatry] and brought to date by a comprehensive and informed resumé of the psychoanalytic point of view inaugurated by Freud's ‘Schreber Fall’.

This development of the significance of narcissism, of latent homosexuality, of the anal character as more particularly examined by Stärcke and van Ophuijsen, and of the mechanism of projection well portrayed. The abstract columns of the Psychoanalytic Review have presented short resumes of nearly all of the studies here brought into a compact synthesis. It is a useful and readable brochure, indicating the wide diffusion of psychoanalytic conceptions in present day French psychiatry.
