“About violent criminals and their offspring.” This is a book of eminent sociological value. The author traces the offspring of 93 criminals of well known case histories who had mostly committed crimes of violence but also others. He found that amongst their sons older than twenty years, 56.4 per cent had been punished for crimes, amongst them 27.1 per cent were punished more than three times. Amongst their daughters 23.4 per cent were punished for crimes but only 1.6 per cent more than three times. Of the entire male second generation over twenty years of age, 48.9 per cent were punished and 21.9 per cent more than three times.
The result of the author's studies has been to confirm a matter of common sense: the worse the parents the worse their progeny. This holds true on the average.
