The author opens on the general theme of the supposed decline of beliefs in magic and superstition and the influence of incorporated theology. While not unmindful of many ‘political’ isms, no less firmly founded in magic and superstition with their ever present aggressive and
destructive tendencies, he rides over the surface with a light spirit of optimism and suggests that psychoanalytic understanding is tending to rid the masses from obsessive “isms”. Let us hope so.
