Under the guise of a novel Phyllis Bottome has written an adlerian pamphlet. At least so it appears to the reviewer, and not so good a book by far as her Private Worlds.
It revolves chiefly about an affair ‘Hilda’ had with a cad called Ronnie. This lasted about a year and Ronnie was now making up to her younger sister and the disenchanted Hilda felt she had to do something about it; perhaps even kill Mr. Winchester, “not Eton” schooled Ronnie, with the Shiga bacillus. This was all broken up by the introduction of a Dr. Silla, a Czechoslovakian physician and adlerian psychologist, who works it all out “so nice” as Mr. Moto might say.
It is all rather superficial, quite in line, to us, with the general ‘kaffe klatsch’ model of her master.
