This is a pocket size volume by a well known humorist. It consists of about ninety cartoons and a total of about four hundred and fifty words. In his own way Steig draws pictures of those who make typical statements such as, “I'm no good,” “Convention be damned,” “Mother loved me but she died,” “My trouble is purely organic,” “These ailments are purely psychic.” Steig throws nice barbs at people who think they have solved life with a cliche. It only takes five or ten minutes to go through the volume but the tendency is to pass it around. If you put a thousand copies in your waiting room they won't last long and your patients will be happy, at least some of them.
