This is an elaborate and detailed study of Dartmouth students by five authors. It is stated that it is important to correct visual defects which interfere with the visual efficiency and the visual comfort of the subject. “In every case, the visual condition is so deeply imbedded within the total personality that its psychological significance is not clear.” “A practical implication of the various findings is that wise treatment of the visual defects proceeds partly on the psychological grounds of what the defect means in the life of the patient.” The volume contains supplementary tables, a glossary and a bibliography of about ninety items.
