This volume by the Professor of Physiology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, is subtitled, “Their Significance for Physiology, Psychology, and Neuropsychiatry.” The author has done a tremendous job, covering the literature in 1,100 bibliographical items. After the introduction the volume is divided into four parts: Adjustment Reactions Involving Principally the Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, Autonomic-Endocrine Integration, Autonomic-Somatic Integration, and Results (Physiological and Chemical) and Applications. It is not possible to go into any detailed examination in a review. It is enough to know that the author has made someting of a source book of the modern literature on the subject.
