“This is the first study of individual development that is based upon a scientific analysis of an individual, painstakingly accumulated over a period of eight years by a group of trained observers, and it is the first study of its kind to present a comprehensive account of physical and physiological factors as well as of more purely psychological aspects of personality.
“Development in Adolescence is a detailed record of the growth of a boy between the ages of ten and eighteen with special emphasis on the interrelated-ness of growth factors and the various approaches to the study of development, such as observational methods, tests, protective techniques, etc. It examines various aspects of behavior and personal adjustment with reference to home and community backgrounds, social relationships within the adolescent culture, and also with regard to the rhythm of physical and physiological changes in the individual.
