This is not a scientific book. It is a collection of three short stories with one main theme. The theme is that a person who loves genuinely and deeply—transforms, intensifies and beautifies the lives of others but in the end pays for it tragically instead of being rewarded. By implication the writer states that love is self-sacrifice. The stories are written in a non-realistic manner which permits the author to make her point forcefully. The middle story about the deaf-mute boy probably will be found to be the best because its non-realism is purest and is not marred by occasional realistic tones as the other two stories. The book illustrates in an artistic and very appealing manner the influence of complete sincerity and deep-rooted goodwill upon individuals and whole communities.
