According to the authors of this volume, modern woman is in a pretty bad way. One does not have to read far to find logical correctness when the authors find man's position to be no less enviable. It all stems back, it seems, to Copernicus' shattering discovery of earthly roundness (a widely accepted view is that this discovery disturbed man's narcissism). The ever widening knowledge and applications of science have made life more difficult and complex.
The authors really cram encyclopedic knowledge about woman between two near covers and quote here and there the social and individual ills mentioned in the psychiatric journals. Chapter headings are Chimaera; or Modern Woman, The Tidal Wave of Modern Unhappiness, The Ghostly Epidemic, The Phallic World, The Destruction of the Home, Women Adrift, The Feminist Complex, The Sexual Revolution, Women Today, Background and Failure of Modern Sexuality, Mother and Child, The Wayward Male, and Ways to a Happier End.

They find the feminist movement to have been a snare and a delusion and one wonders how many will feel that the new home woman (on a much more noble, enlightened and cultured basis) is just as much a snare and a delusion. The main remedial measures suggested are Psychotherapy, A Federal Department of Welfare, Cash Payments to Mothers, and Reconstruction of the Home.
