This small volume consists chiefly of sonnets, some of which bear the marks of genius while others are rather inadequate attempts to present unverbalized somatic stuff. Some of the illustrations remind one of the productions of schizophrenically ill patients who thus project their mental conflicts. As a whole the book is unique, most interesting and stimulating, revealing many a flash of keen insight into the problems that confront the psychiatrist. Moreover it is very close to the fundamentals of psychological functioning in terms of a genuine understanding of what is going on beneath the surface. Any one interested in psychopathology will do well to spend some evenings with it. It will bear reading several times.
